{"id":458,"date":"2010-02-03T11:23:11","date_gmt":"2010-02-03T16:23:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.willhackforsushi.com\/?p=458"},"modified":"2010-02-03T11:32:58","modified_gmt":"2010-02-03T16:32:58","slug":"mifi-config-hack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.willhackforsushi.com\/?p=458","title":{"rendered":"MiFi Config Hack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.willhackforsushi.com\/?p=417\">previous post<\/a>, I wrote about a method to exploit the default password selection on Verizon MiFi devices.\u00a0 As a MiFi user, I&#8217;m also interested in other ways I can manipulate the device.<\/p>\n<p>The configuration settings for the MiFi are fairly straightforward, and some users have pointed out that there are additional settings that can be applied via a customized config file (browse to <strong>Advanced -&gt; Config File -&gt; Download File<\/strong> then edit and upload).\u00a0 However, the MiFi also has a hidden advanced configuration page accessible at\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.1.1\/adv802.html\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/192.168.1.1\/adv802.html<\/a> that is not otherwise linked on the administrative pages.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 421px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.willhackforsushi.com\/images\/mifi-advanced.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Hidden MiFi Configuration Page\" src=\"http:\/\/www.willhackforsushi.com\/images\/mifi-advanced.jpg\" alt=\"Hidden MiFi Configuration Page\" width=\"411\" height=\"441\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hidden MiFi Configuration Page<\/p><\/div>\n<p>On this page we are able to set a variety of options not accessible with the default management interface:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Leverage WEP as an encryption and authentication mechanism (yay!);<\/li>\n<li>Increase the number of simultaneous stations allowed to share the MiFi WLAN at any given time;<\/li>\n<li>Adjust the transmit power level of the WLAN interface for more range or longer battery life;<\/li>\n<li>Manipulate other wireless settings very few people understand and even fewer care about.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These changes have been available by manually editing the config.xml file previously, but now you can do it without all the hassle of XML+notepad.<\/p>\n<p>-Josh<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In my previous post, I wrote about a method to exploit the default password selection on Verizon MiFi devices.\u00a0 As a MiFi user, I&#8217;m also interested in other ways I can manipulate the device.
