Dispelling Common Bluetooth Misconceptions

Friday, September 21, 2007

I’ve been spending more time evaluating Bluetooth technology lately, and as I discuss some of vulnerabilities I’ve discovered, I’ve received mixed reactions.  The most common reaction is to disregard the vulnerabilities as impractical to be exploited, often due to misconceived notions about the operating characteristics and risks associated with Bluetooth networks.

In order to help organizations better understand the risks associated with Bluetooth technology, I’ve written a short paper titled “Dispelling Common Bluetooth Misconceptions”, published in the SANS Technology Institute Security Laboratory.

As always, comments are most welcome.  Thanks! -Josh
