Wireless Threats and Practical Exploits

Tuesday, October 30, 2007

I was invited to speak at the Baton Rouge Infragard Chapter on Thursday the 18th where I discussed some practical wireless threats, attacks and exploits.  I only had an hour, so I focused on three attacks; anonymity attacks in 802.11 networks, open network manipulation via AirPWN and Bluetooth headset eavesdropping.  I planned to demonstrate the Bluetooth attack, but had forgotten to bring my headset.  Fortunately, one of the Infragard participants had his Jawbone headset handy, and allowed me to use it as a target.  Following the presentation, he asked “Does anyone want my headset now?”; apparently, he didn’t plan to continue using much longer.

Slides are posted in the Publications section titled “Wireless Threats and Practical Exploits”.  Thanks to my hosts at the Infragard meeting for their time, and for the chance to examine some of threats that concern me.
